Develop your skills: As with any creative discipline, the most important aspect of becoming an illustrator is honing your skills. Invest time in learning techniques, experimenting with different styles, and finding your unique voice. Practice regularly and seek feedback from other artists and professionals in the industry. It took me a couple of years to get to the point that I am happy and comfortable with the Army Warhog style of artworks.

Build a portfolio: Your portfolio is your calling card as an illustrator. It showcases your skills, style, and creativity, and it's crucial to have a strong one if you want to secure work and attract clients. Consider taking on freelance projects, participating in exhibitions, and creating a website to showcase your work. This is extremely important as you can see I try to Showcase all my work on

Network: Networking is key in any industry, and the illustration field is no exception. Attend events, join professional organizations, and connect with other artists and industry professionals to build relationships and learn about opportunities for work. Social media platforms, such as Instagram and Twitter, can also be valuable tools for connecting with others in the industry. Instagram has proven to be an extremely effective medium for Army Warhog by showcasing the work and networking with likeminded people that have a passion for the same interests.

Be versatile: The illustration field is diverse, and clients often look for illustrators who can handle a wide range of styles and techniques. Be flexible and willing to explore new styles and techniques, and don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. This I am still working on myself as Im not yet fully comfortable adapting to other styles, but will get there.

Be persistent: Building a successful career as an illustrator takes time and hard work. Be persistent in pursuing your goals, and don't get discouraged if you face setbacks or rejections. Embrace the challenges and use them as opportunities to learn and grow.

In conclusion, starting a career as an illustrator requires hard work, determination, and a commitment to developing your skills and building your reputation. Remember to stay focused on your goals, embrace opportunities for growth and learning, and stay connected to the industry and your peers. With time and effort, you can build a successful and rewarding career as an illustrator
